CRAMER

The Cramer family was originally from Germany. 

1. GEORGE CRAMER Sr. was born and grew up in Germany. He later migrated to Holland and in 1760 he came to New York. He became an American citizen in 1761. It is not known when he died or who his wife was.

2. JOHN GEORGE CRAMER was born on December 12, 1762 at Rhinebeck, Duchess County, New York and was the son of George Cramer Sr. He married Rebecca Steenberg in 1786 and they settled at Half Moon in Albany County. John G Cramer was a soldier in the 12th Albany Regiment during the Revolutionary War. About 1803 they moved to Duanesburg and about 1810 they moved to Florida in Montgomery County.  Rebecca (Steenberg) Cramer died on November 2, 1818 and John G Cramer died on October 30, 1840, both at Florida. John and Rebecca Cramer had 12 children including a son:

3. JEREMIAH CRAMER was born on April 11. 1792 at Half Moon, New York and he married first Eva Kilmer about 1816. She died in 1818 and Jeremiah then moved to Marcellus in Onondaga County. He married second Ruth Lowry in 1819. They lived at Marcellus until 1837 when they moved to Washtenaw County, Michigan. Jeremiah Cramer died in 1845 at Bridgewater and Ruth (Lowry) Cramer died in 1846 at Lodi, both in Washtenaw County. Jeremiah and Eva Cramer had two children and by Ruth Lowry he had 8 including a son:

4. MARTIN WILTSIE CRAMER was born on October 12, 1831 at Marcellus, New York. He came to Michigan with his parents and he married Delinda Eveline Sias on October 28, 1855 at Pine River Township in Gratiot County. In 1857 Martin Cramer purchased 240 acres of government land in Bethany Township. He served in the 8th Michigan Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. Martin and Delinda Cramer lived in Bethany Township until about 1875 when they were divorced. By 1880 Martin had married second, a widow named Charlotte Andrews. She either died or they were divorced and in 1900 Martin Cramer was living at Holland in Ottawa County with a third wife named Marinda. He died on April 20, 1912 and was buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery, St Louis, Michigan. Delinda (Sias) Cramer was remarried to John J VanHellen about 1877. Martin and Delinda Cramer had 9 children including a daughter:

5. AMBROSIA CRAMER was born on August 29. 1857 at the Cramer farm in Bethany Township, Gratiot County. Ambrosia married Francis J Badgrow on August 5, 1877 at Hartland in Livingston County.  Ambrosia (Cramer) Badgrow died on June 25, 1932 at Big Rock in Montmorency County. By Francis Badgrow she had six children (see Badgrow Family for descendants).
